Currency: Egyptian Pounds (1 EUR = 8,84 EGP). You can change your currency in Egypt (EURO, GBP, USD) as well as pay with it, however it is always better to pay with local currency. The exchange rate given by the local shops will not be as attractive as Bank or official exchange point’s rate.

Visa: mandatory “upon arrival” visa. Cost: 15usd, valid: 30 days.
Passport: must be valid at least 6 months and have a double blank page for the visa
Medical care: El Gouna hospital is regarded as one of the best hospitals in Egypt. Doctor’s appointment: 20-40 USD. Hospital treatment: 100 – 300 USD per day. Payments for medical services – cash.
Vaccinations: No mandatory vaccinations. There is no risk of epidemic diseases. Use only bottled water for drinking. You should avoid uncooked vegetables and peeled fruit that may have been washed in tap water. Avoid drinks with ice as tap water could have been used to make it.
Sun and swimming: Avoid long exposure to the sun, which can be intense. Use plenty of high factor sun cream and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and sunburn. Nudity and topless sunbathing is forbidden.
Attention: In case of diarrhea use local medicine: Antinal that works for different type of bacteria than European medicine.

Once outside the terminal you will come to El Gouna in as little as 30 minutes!

Tips and baksheesh: tipping is very much part of Egyptian culture therefore you should tip for the services provided.
Food: El Gouna offers a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, cafeterias with good food and drinks. Alcohol beverages are mainly local.
